Riverside County (Western and Mid-County Regions, including Riverside, Moreno Valley, Corona, Perris, Murrieta, etc) Summary Under the direction of the Project Coordinator, the Community Mental Health Promoter (CMHP) has primary responsibilities in community outreach and in conducting community presentations on various mental health topics.
The goal of this position is to promote awareness of mental health topics and resources in the growing Asian Pacific communities of Riverside County.
Essential Functions:
Organize and conduct mental health education presentations monthly to every 2 months at various community settings, such as schools, community centers, churches and other faith organizations, libraries, senior centers, etc.
Schedule own presentations within the local community, including securing venues and confirmation of date, time and location.
Utilize a mental health curriculum that the Promoter will be trained on.
Topics include identifying signs of depression, anxiety and other mental illness, suicide prevention, grief and loss, addressing stigma associated with mental health care, how to help a family member or friend struggling with mental health concerns.
Collaborate with the project team and network with community stakeholders in the Western and Mid-County Regions of Riverside County, to conduct community outreach and mental health education workshops/presentations.
Conduct/participate in community outreach activities such as health/school resource fair, community cultural events.
Provide information, linkage and referrals to community members on community/mental health resources.
Will need to work some evening hours and/or weekends to conduct outreach and education workshops.
Receive training, feedback and supervision from project coordinator.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Proficiency in Mandarin language (speak, read, write).
Familiarity with and immersion in one of the Asian cultural groups as a leader or mentor.
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology or other related field from an accredited university preferred.

Work experience in mental health field may substitute educational requirement.
Effective verbal and written communication skills are required, with public speaking experience required.
Ability to network with community stakeholders and members.
Knowledge and ability to work with intergenerational and multi-ethnic Asian Pacific populations.
Ability to function as a member of an inter-disciplinary team.
Excellent organization and time-management skills to coordinate own presentations, work independently and complete documentation of activities provided.
Computer Literacy - ability to use MS Office, Outlook, Adobe programs, Electronic Health Record Software and any other relevant computer programs that are necessary to fulfill the required job duties.
Must have a valid California driver license, car insurance and reliable transportation.

Physical requirements include at least 60 to 90 minutes sustained sitting and listening, at least 120 minutes of sustained standing, writing or typing electronic health records.
