9K - $72K a year The County of Riverside University Health System (RUHS) has an opportunity for a Bioinformatician with the Department of Public Health (PH) laboratory.
This position has a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off, and the possibility of occasional telecommuting (up to 3 days per week).
Candidates having a combination of laboratory and bioinformatics experience are highly desired.
The PH Bioinformatician provides the scientific and technical computing expertise required to support PH surveillance, diagnostics and research efforts, by performing the collection, analysis and presentation of public health data, specifically ensuring sequencing data is analyzed and interpreted for department Epidemiologists use.
The Public Health Bioinformatician is a single-position advanced journey level classification and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manger level position.
The incumbent designs, evaluates and interprets scientific research related to disease control and prevention for use in policy development, and designs evaluation studies to support the mission of RUHS-PH.
The incumbent will apply robust software engineering techniques to develop bioinformatic workflows, web applications and visualization of genomic data.
