Job DescriptionThe Director of the Health and Wellness Center directs and coordinates all activities of the student Health and Wellness Center, primarily in providing medical and behavioral health services to students, staff and faculty.
The Director of the Health and Wellness Center is an integral part of the Student Life team and works with all campus departments to facilitate the success of students.
Duties and Responsibilities Collaboratively defines campus wellness priorities.
Initiates departmental mission, goal setting, and student needs assessment programs.
Collaborates with departments in developing and implementing creative, culturally-sensitive programming focused on health and wellness promotion and prevention.
Develop measurable outcomes relative to student health promotion/wellness behaviors and regularly evaluate programs and services.
Provides leadership for supervising clinical practitioners in managing student-centered medical and behavioral health services.
Establishes, reviews and appropriately revises administrative, clinical and operational policies, procedures and protocols for the Health and Wellness Center.
Supervises the medical secretary assigned to the Health and Wellness Center.
Administers the Health and Wellness Center budget and monitors expenditures.
Initiates appropriate medical and counseling reports as needed.
Plans and holds regular staff meetings to discuss progress, innovations, and concerns.
Ensures required current licensure for professional staff and services.
Assists faculty with special or unique student problems.
Serve as requested on University committees and boards to represent student health and wellness needs.
Serve as senior member of the crisis response team, as well as serve as senior behavioral mental health advisor on call for crisis matters.
Seek opportunities to create partnerships with community providers for the expansion or enhancement of center programs and services.
Interviews and participates in the hiring of candidates for all clinic personnel.
Maintains confidentiality of records based on accepted professional confidentiality standards as well as FERPPA.
Clinical Duties:
Counsels students, leads group counseling.
Other duties as assigned by Vice President for Student Life.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work as part of a management team dedicated to collaboration and the university goal of integrating instruction and student services as a way to create and maintain a supportive student-learning environment.
Knowledge of and ability to accurately interpret laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to the regulation of medical and behavioral health services.
Demonstrate excellent clinical, outreach, consultation and crisis intervention skills with commitment to highest standard of care.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and to deal with problems as they arise.
Excellent leadership, diplomacy, and team management skills with the ability to engage others through a participative process, while serving as key decision maker.
Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive student body, faculty, staff, and other constituents.
Strong project and program management and evaluation skills.
Demonstrated strengths in public speaking and presenting; excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
Flexibility and willingness to assume new tasks and special projects.
oStrong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet-based software systems.
Credentials and ExperienceMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Qualified candidates must have a Masters degree (in medicine or health care administration, public health medicine, counseling, psychology, education ) AND Five to seven years in an educational or clinical setting, AND Evidence of experience in management, counseling, mentoring, presenting, planning, monitoring and supporting.
State license/certification is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Terminal degree (PhD) La Sierra University personnel familiarized with its institutional diverse culture Special RequirementsSome after hour work required as needed or during emergencies.
Knowledge of student development theory, program development, management and leadership education, learning outcomes assessment, staff training/development, and student advisement.
Proven experience in student crisis management and emergency response.
Salary Wage Range:
$64,480.
00 to $74,500.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
