They assemble, inspect, install, and test new pieces of equipment to ensure proficiency.
Mechanics are expected to perform emergency repairs, which necessitates the ability to troubleshoot promptly.
Preventive maintenance needs to be performed frequently.
Responsibilities and Duties Install, assemble, and test new machines and equipment; understand and comply with workplace safety rules and policies Inspect machines regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual inspections, listening for irregular noises, and conducting scheduled testing as appropriate Monitor, identify and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in performance, temperature fluctuations, sounds, smells, or atypical energy usage; perform troubleshooting for production machinery Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electric, and hydraulic; identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions Maintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanliness; create and maintain a schedule for inspection, service, and testing of machinery Read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification, or installation of machinery Work effectively with other team members in a loud environment Understand and follow oral and written directions Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull weights, up to 75 pounds Communicate with all levels of management and outside vendors Qualifications Mechanical and manufacturing experience Ladder logic trouble shooting skills 5S knowledge Strong hydraulic skills and repair knowledge Strong electrical trouble shooting skills and repairs Ability to run new electrical panels, transformers, and bend EMT Ability to weld using Stick, Mig and Tig welders HVAC knowledge and repairs Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, and/or use hands and fingers to handle or touch objects, tools, or controls.
The employee is frequently required to stand, and/or walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move and/or pull up to 50 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance) of painting and blasting equipment, which may include lifting 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee regularly works in high, precarious places, is exposed to fumes, airborne particles, dust, various working area conditions, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
The employee is also regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions and may work in varying degrees of confined space.
The noise level is usually moderate but may be loud at certain times while working in yard.
