7K a year 3 days ago 3 days ago 3 days ago The County of Riverside's Purchasing and Fleet Department is seeking innovative and solution-focused candidates for their next Deputy Director of Procurement! The Deputy Director of Procurement will plan, direct, and oversee department operational activities of the Procurement Division and act as a manager over subordinate level supervisors.
Duties will include handling performance evaluations, mentoring, and helping to grow employees in this classification.
As the first executive level in Procurement, the incumbent will be responsible for the big picture goals and objectives of the division.
In order to ensure these goals and objectives are achieved, they will propose policies and develop programs in order to guide the direction of the division.
The Deputy Director will also be responsible for creating measurable metrics for work completed and utilize this data in order to better communicate with stakeholders and develop more effective and efficient ways to deliver the Department's services.
This position will be characterized by its ability to act as an advocate and problem-solver for other County departments as well as for the Procurement Division through cutting the red tape for departments and developing creative solutions to unique Procurement issues.
They will also responsible for the development and preparation of a division budget; monitoring expenditures and reviewing internal controls for fiscal purposes.
The Purchasing and Fleet Department is looking for an incumbent who can increase employment engagement, build culture and who is excited to share knowledge as well as coach and mentor staff in order to build bench strength in Procurement.
Competitive candidates will be politically savvy, customer service oriented, and analytical.
A strong background in governmental procurement processes and operations is highly desired.
The Deputy Director of Procurement reports to an Assistant Director or appropriate department head.
This class has been designated At-Will by the Board of Supervisors, in accordance with the provisions provided under Article 6, Section 601E (8) of the County Management Resolution and serves at the pleasure of the Director of Procurement and Fleet.
This class has been deemed eligible for the Performance Recognition Plan as set forth under Article 3, Section 311 of the County Management Resolution.
Program eligibility requires employees to be in a leadership position, manage other employees or programs, and have significant influence on the achievement of organizational objectives.
Meet the Team! The Purchasing and Fleet Department's primary function is to provide vehicles, goods and services to other County Departments and agencies within the County of Riverside.
Providing a unified purchasing system that ensures integrity and fairness, with centralized responsibility for oversight of solicitation, vendor selection, negotiation, award, contract management, reporting, disposal of surplus property and emergency logistical support for the benefit of Riverside County agencies.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
