Senior Roadway Engineer
In the role of Senior Roadway Engineer, we'll count on you to:
Serve as a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects. Coordination of major projects through design completion, demonstrating creativity, foresight, and technical judgment. Assure that engineering services are commensurate with professional standards, client requirements, budget control scheduling, cost engineering/control, quality control, and project objectives. Interact with clients, and participate in technical project design meetings. Provide leadership to the design team for various tasks within the scope of a project, including training and supervising junior staff. Coordinate with other design disciplines, including structures, hydraulics/drainage, stormwater, traffic, electrical, utilities, right of way, and environmental. Primary Responsibilities Prepare highway designs, including planning documents and PS&E Coordinate with internal disciplines. Manage and mentor younger staff. Coordinate workload throughout entire project development, and ensure completion of documents on schedule and within budget. Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed. Perform quality assurance checks for projects. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program. Five to Seven (5-7) years of related experience in designing and managing engineering activities for infrastructure projects. Registered Civil Engineer (P.E.) Experience on projects with Caltrans and/or FHWA oversight. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Experience should include urban and rural highways, intersection design, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout, and CAD base alignment plans. Knowledge and understanding of Caltrans Highway Design Manual and Standards, AASHTO Highway Design Guide, California MUTCD, Greenbook / APWA standards, and other related standards.
