Position Information
Under the general direction of the Lead Academic Advisor/Assistant Director in the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS) Undergraduate Academic Advising Center, the position provides fundamental academic advising to prospective and current undergraduate students and uses the principles of developmental academic advising and a knowledge of teaching and learning theory to promote academic, career and life goals in an effort to support student academic success, retention, timeliness to degree and intellectual and personal development. This position is responsible for one or more programs such as, CNAS Transition Advising program, CNAS articulation officer, CNAS Scholarship and awards program and the CNAS Commencement programmer. This is a career position limited to three years with the possibility of review for continuation based on departmental project & operational needs.
Education
Education Requirements Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required Master's Degree Preferred
Experience
Experience Requirement Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Required
Minimum Requirements
Ability to multi-task.
Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques, knowledge of multiple majors, colleges, & schools.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving.
Thorough knowledge of college/school policies, procedures, and requirements.
Knowledge in and ability to counsel and advise students in higher education.
Knowledge and ability to discern the regulations of FERPA.
Demonstrated knowledge of Student Information Systems ( Banner).
Abilities in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong communication skills including speaking with clarity to individuals as well as conducting presentations for groups of 50-300.
Ability to train and hire peer mentors for programs as needed.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
